Reading Month kick off
We finally made it through the letter Ee! Looks like we will have a consistent number
of school days this week!!!!
We are moving to 2 letters and 2 sight words a week!
READING: We are reading An Orange in January. It talks about how an orange grows and gets
from the farm to the market.
Letters: Ff & Rr
Sight words: he &
with
Vocabulary words:
fresh & delicious
Category words: food
words—fruits & vegetables
WRITING: We will be writing in our journals. We have written a note to Anabelle. The children really miss her!
SCIENCE &
SOCIAL STUDIES:
We are beginning a social studies unit on maps and
globes. We will first look at where we
live and expand from there.
Smokey Bear visits to remind us about fire safety as we near
spring!
MATH: We’ve been practicing counting by 1’s,
5’s and 10’s to 100.
We have practiced playing Top it (what we knew as kids as
War!). We are also looking at teen
numbers. We will learn about the
addition and equal signs and begin doing some addition problems.
Thank you to all who helped in the classroom or who donated
snacks and all who helped get their child’s Valentines ready for our
party! The children enjoyed the
day! Thanks to those that helped with
our Heart activities in the gym too! It
was a busy day!!!
December Student of the Month:
Adalyn L.
Adalyn always has a smile and an eager heart to help
others! She likes to help!! Adalyn likes the color purple and she loves
to paint. Her favorite food is spaghetti. She has two dogs and one cat at home. Her favorite book is Gotta GO! Gotta Go! Gotta Go to Mexico! (We read it during our Monarch Butterfly
study!). Adalyn would like to learn the whole alphabet this year! When she grows up she wants to be a
nurse! (She told her Mom she wanted to
be a nurse so she could take care of Ms. Thompson when she gets old!). J
Because of all the snow days it was decided there would not
be a February student of the Month. We
will have our next one on delayed start in March.
Book orders are due Monday February 25!
Have a great weekend!
Melissa
PS: There was not
time for all to have a conference. If
you have questions or would like to talk, please send me an email or call!!!
