Welcome to Kindergarten!
We have had a busy start to our year!  Our class is now 21 students.  Five moved to the new kindergarten classroom on Monday.  

We begin our day talking about the calendar and weather, then the schedule for the day.   We are working on the alphabet.  Every day is a different letter.  We are learning about parts of the book, how to 'read' a book, the author and illustrators job, and how to care for books.  In math we are learning rhymes to help us write numbers.

Tuesday and Thursday we have gym.   PLEASE remember gym shoes!
Wednesday afternoon is music, Library every other week.

The children have  had some very busy days at school.  They will need plenty of rest to keep up with the schedule!

We have 6 more days left!  WHERE has the year gone??!!
Monday is our track and field at 1230 up
at the track.  If it rains we will not have the event and we will be in our classroom doing work.  Children can bring a water bottle and must have gym shoes on.

Thursday dismissal is 1:45 and Friday is our last day--dismissal is also 1:45.

We had Dibels testing today and missed our library time.  We WILL be going tomorrow (Tuesday).  Please send in ALL library books.

Field trip May 21 I need ALL money ($2.50) and permission for pictures and permission to go forms please!

Friday May 24 is fun to be fit at 1:00

Track and field Monday June 3

We are going to be working on timelines—will you send in a baby picture of your child as soon as you can so I can scan it and get it printed.  I will return your original!

We begin this week working on the letter Ww and sight words he, was.
Mileage club begins today!  Mrs Kelly is still in need of helpers!  If you can help out even one time a week it will be very helpful!  Give her a call at 825-2021!
May 24 is FUN 2 Be FIT!  Get your t-shirt money in!
We had an awesome assembly last week ...NED came to see us and teach us about NEVER GIVING UP....ENCOURAGE EVERYONE....DO YOUR BEST!  He did some amazing tricks with yoyo's!  If you want to purchase one you have one more day to purchase at school otherwise there is an order form!
Children don't need to wear boots to school.  There is no snow on the playground.  If they do choose to wear boots please remember shoes.  Monday is library day!  Please send library books back to school!

This week we are working on the letter Ee.  Our sight words are you and that.  The book we will be reading is Five Little Ducks.  We are working on maps and globes and motion for science and social studies.  Math will be working on counting by 2's, dividing groups in half, attributes and measuring time.

Mrs Kelley has asked us to seek volunteers for Mileage Club.  It will begin on April 22 (was going to start April 15 but it is too muddy and we are expected to get rain off and on all week).  You would be needed one day a week for 5-6 weeks and time would be from 1:40-2:55. There is a break in between recesses.  You can let me know or call Mrs. Kelley at 825-2021 or email her a ckelly@mcbain.org.

We are working on the letter Bb this week!
The children have painted their book boxes and are excited to finish decorating and filling them with their favorite books we have made in the classroom.  These are book boxes for them to keep at home!  Please encourage daily reading!
I will work hard to get the April news and calendar done this week!
Remember Thursday is PJ day and our last day of school until after Spring Break!

This week we are working in digraphs (sh-ch-wh-th).  I have been talking about them for quite a while.  I have cards at the children's tables with the digraphs listed and pictures of things that start or end with it.

Reading month has been fun!  Remember this Friday is animal print day.
I will be sending the book orders home tomorrow.  I've been waiting for one of the catalogs, so if it doesn't come today I will just send what I have.  If I get them back by Thursday the order should be here before spring break/Easter.
We are reading easy sight word books.  Please continue to read the list of sight words as homework.  We have 50 to learn by June!

March is fast approaching!
March is READING MONTH!  Our theme is Rainforest/jungle.  I will have more information to send home.
Reminder that Parent/Teacher conferences are this Thursday.  If you did not get a time slot for Thursday, please call me or write a note and let me know what day/time you are available or we can do a phone conference.

February

Valentine's Day party will be Thursday in the afternoon.
Thursday is also Jump rope for heart.  We will be going down to see what the older kids are doing!
Looks like 100's day will be Tuesday--more information later.
NO school for students Friday Feb. 15 (teachers in meetings) or Monday Feb 18 (President's day).

Welcome to a new week!  Monday January 21 is delayed start.  Class begins at 10am.

Our sight words for this week are have and little.  We will be exploring the letter Rr.  Many of the children are beginning to read and are very excited! 
Our book for this week is The Three Little Kittens.  We will be working on rhyming as well.
Book orders will be sent in tonight!

We have 2 short days coming up--January 17 & 18.  Friday January 18 we will have PJ day and we will have a sledding party.  More information to come!
This month we will be doing assessments to prepare for report cards to go home.
