Please have your child wear their snow pants to school so they can get outside right away for morning recess.

Library:  Due to snow days our library day is Thursday Feb 4 and Thursday Feb 18—we move back to Mondays on February 29.

READING:

WRITING:  We write in our journals every day.  We wrote about our sledding party.  We made a class book The Jacket I Wear in the Snow  after we read Shirley Neitzel’s book of the same name.

MATH:  This week we look at teen numbers.  Making them using our fingers, base 10 blocks and double 10 frames.  We are also learning about 3-D shapes; cube, cylinder, cone, triangular prism and rectangular prism.
SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES:
Ground Hog day—we voted to see if he would or would not see his shadow.  We counted to see how many of us though he would see it and how many thought he would not see it.  We watched a video of Punxsutawney Phil and saw he did not see his shadow!  We talked about what that meant for spring weather,
We have started talking about Valentine’s Day and thoughtful things we can do for people we care for.  We will be making our Valentine’s bags for our party.
STUDENT OF THE WEEK:

Kaelynn:  Kaelynn likes Spaghetti and mac & cheese.  She enjoys playing with animals—chasing chickens and collecting eggs.  She has fun on go karts.  Kaelynn wants to learn cheerleading.  Her favorite movie is Frozen.  Favorite book is The Kissing Hand.  She wants to be a zookeeper and go to Disney!
