5/26/16
Due to the chance of rain in the afternoon Friday, the Fun to be fit walk around the track that was scheduled for the afternoon has been changed to the morning!  We will meet you up on the track at 9:45--the event begins at 9:50.  If you didn't order a Fun to be fit t-shirt, the children can wear a lime green shirt or their kindergarten shirt!  Hope to see you up at the track!

Jeremiah likes bugs!  He loves Monster trucks and wants to be a monster truck driver.  He loves his dog, Jada Bata.  Jeremiah likes to eat chicken nuggets, chicken wings, strawberries, oranges, juice, yogurt and candy!
He wants to get a dirt bike.  His favorite book is My Ninja Turtle Book.

READING:
We will be reading about how people work together.

Lifecycle—Painted Lady butterfly caterpillars are changing!!   They are all in the chrysalis stage.  (butterflies form a chrysalis, a moth spins a cocoon)

May is here already! Time sure is flying this year!  I will do my best to keep you updated on events that are coming up!  Here are dates to mark on our calendar!

3rd Grade Bookstore
Wednesday May 4 is the 3rd grade bookstore.  They are studying economics.  The books to be purchased are gently used books and are priced between .25 and $2.00.  If you would like your child to purchase a book please send money in an envelope with his/her name on it and we will go shopping as a class on Wednesday.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK:  Emmy
Emmy’s favorite animal is an elephant.  She loves her Mom and ballet class.  Her favorite foods are apples and oranges.  She wants to be an artist and be a hairdresser.  Her favorite movie is Home.  Her favorite books are Biscuit books.


READING:
We are reading stories about how to help at home.  Our story is Peter’s Chair.  He is frustrated with his parents for painting his baby furniture pink for his new sister, but realizes he’s too big and helps get things ready for her.
VOCABULARY:  chores, contribute
CATEGORY WORDS:  household, furniture
PHONICS:  long a, long a with silent e, short a and sh blend
SIGHT WORDS:  help, too, him

WRITING:
We have started new spring journals.  We are going to try and write informational books.

MATH:
We are continuing work on addition and beginning subtraction
We practice counting every day by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s and recognizing numbers/writing.

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES:
We are starting to talk about life cycles.  I am ordering painted lady caterpillars to we can watch the life cycle to a butterfly!
