If you ordered from the book club your order should arrive
this week!
PLEASE remember shoes on Monday and Thursday! Children
need sturdy gym shoes to be safe.
Please also send
folders back to school emptied out every day! The work the children do is important to
them! Take a look at it and read it with
them! It impresses to them that school
is important to you and it’s a great review for your child!
The children received
a book from me last week! It is theirs
to keep! I had a couple that already
had the books so I’ve ordered different ones—they should be here soon!
READING:
They have more books now from our reading series. Please read and re read these books! It puts sight words in to context and means
more to them!
We are working on the letters Tt-Zz this week. We will continue listening to rhymes. The children will be introduced to the Beanie
Baby Lips the fish—it reminds them to look at the letters and think of the
sound it makes.
WRITING:
We will begin to talk about small moment stories this week. The children will also be working on capital
and lower case letters when making words.
We will talk about our names having a capital first, but general words
don’t have a capital letter unless in the beginning of a sentence.
As we continue to learn about being a scientist we will go
out and draw and write about weather in our notebooks
We are continuing to draw and write in our journals daily.
MATH:
Our number hats 9& 10 are the focus this week. We are working more on shapes –especially the
triangle. We are practicing counting to 25 with our count and sit game!
We will also be using our dot cards to work on being able to
see different quantities! JACK HARTMAN
SUBITIZING VIDEO is a favorite to help with this!
SCIENCE AND SOCIAL
STUDIES:
The first day of fall was this past weekend. We will be talking about changes we are
seeing. We will also be talking about
different kinds of weather and charting it every day.
The last of our butterflies are beginning to emerge. I received tags from the conservation group
so we are tagging the last 5 as we send them off to Mexico.
Dr. Prissel (our Superintendent) came in this morning and the
children taught him how to identify male and female Monarchs!
We continue to discuss school rules and how to feel good
about school and doing the right thing!
Happy Fall (Saturday!)
