KINDERGARTEN
September 4-7 NEWS
DATES:
SEPTEMBER 6:
BOOK ORDERS ARE DUE!
I
WILL BE SENDING THEM IN ON THURSDAY.
MONDAY September
17: Our first delayed start.
READING:
This
week we begin our study of the letters of the alphabet. We do Aa and Bb on separate days then we zoom
to 2 letters a day until we are finished with all 26. We will be doing various ABC activities and
paper work, also making an ABC sound book during this time. In the folders I gave you on the first day
you have the alphabet with how to make the sounds on the back.
We
will be doing our formal testing soon.
This
week we are working on letters Aa-Ff and learning the sight word I. We are learning parts of a book and learning
that when we read we read from left to right.
WRITING:
We
started journal writing the first day of school. I try to get the children to draw and write
what they can—even if it’s the first sound they hear. Like if they drew about playing football they
would hear the /f/ in football and write an f.
We
are learning about being a speaker and a listener- at group time.
Science:
We
have watched our caterpillar grow, form a chrysalis ( a butterfly forms a chrysalis-a
moth forms a cocoon.) this week we’ve seen the butterfly emerge and Tuesday we
released 2 males. The children were
shown to look on the bottom sections of the wings to find if there are dots—if there
are it’s ma male. The female have no
black dots on rear wings.
