STUDENT OF THE WEEK:
Aubree
Aubree loves
tractors. She loves to give hugs. Aubree has her own dog. She likes mash potatoes, mac & cheese,
and tacos. Her favorite movie is Garfield. Her goal is to make friends and learn new
things.
READING:
Letter: Ss
Sight word: see
The big book this
week is Senses at the Seashore --A story about senses you have
when at the seashore. I brought in my
conch shell for the children to listen and also touch.
Our Beanie Baby is
Stretchy Snake. Stretchy reminds us to
stretch out and sound out new words (both when reading and when trying to
write)
WRITING:
We write daily in
our journals. We also are continuing to
talk about ‘small moments’. This week we
are brainstorming a story about our own small moment.
MATH: We
are continuing to use Halloween counters (erasers) to practice counting,
sorting and patterning. We are investigating shapes. We will also work on 5 and 10 frames. We will continue to practice counting (to 30)
and write and identify numbers. We warm
up counting to Jack Hartman. You can Google
him (He’s on YouTube!) He has counting
to 100 by 1’s, counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s!
We also do the letter of the week with Jack!!
SCIENCE/SOCIAL
STUDIES:
We are talking
about fall and apples. Friday we will have firefighters visit with a fire
truck.
TECHNOLOGY:
The children are
all working on the computer every day doing Enterprise. They also get on their I
pads. I will be teaching them a rhyming
ap this week.
**The PTO is having a book Fair starting November 2—if you
would be interested in helping, please let me know and I will get you in
contact with the organizer
**Title 1 family night is October 19—please return the attached yellow
paper by the 17th. They are
serving dinner beginning at 5:30—there will be activities to do in our room
starting at 6 and will be available until 7.
Each child will bring home a packet of fun things to do at home!
