STUDENT OF THE WEEK:
Isaiah
Isaiah loves to learn.  He loves to watch TV and snuggle.  He loves to play games.  Isaiah’s favorite foods are bananas and gummie snacks.  He wants to be a hunter and a dad when he grows up.

READING:
Letter: Aa
Sight word: we
The big book this week is Pouch!  --A story about a kangaroo.

WRITING:
We write daily in our journals.  We also are starting to talk about ‘small moments’.  This week we are brainstorming a story about our gingerbread day.

MATH:  We are using Halloween counters (erasers) to practice counting, quantity, sorting and patterning.   We work on adding and subtracting as well.

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES:
We are talking about fall and apples.  Friday fun day we will be listening to a story about a little red house with no doors, no windows and a star inside!  Story is included so the children can help tell it to your family!  We will be taste testing 3 kinds of apples and graphing our favorite!

TECHNOLOGY:
The children are all working on the computer every day doing Enterprise (the older students do Success Maker)—this program works with the children at their level and challenges them as they work.
They are also getting on their Ipads and some have taken to Teach your Monster to Read!  The Monster sends the children letters or certificates as they progress through!  This ap is free and it works first with letters/sounds then on to words and sentences.  I sent home login and password information.

Pizza Hut Book-it calendars for October went home earlier this week!  Children should read or be read to at least 15-20 minutes a day.  Every day they read or are read to, they color in the cat of that day.  The First of November, return the signed and completed calendar and your child receives a coupon for a personal pizza from Pizza Hut!  Children that return all calendars from October to March get a prize from me! The children know there are 3 ways to read a book---read, look at pictures to tell the story or retell a story they know!  Have fun reading!!!!

The children have all brought home a laminated paper with their first and last name on it.  They also have a watercolor marker.  They can practice tracing their name and then use a damp cloth to wipe it off and write again!  They can practice letters, numbers or their name also on the back!
