October 31:  Bat activities with Mrs. Quist in the morning

Halloween party and parade in the afternoon (parade   at 1:00)

November 1:  NO SCHOOL—teacher in Professional Development

November 4:  Report cards go home
Coins for kids is collecting coins through the end of October.  We continue to be in first place!!!!

READING:

Book:  Senses at the Seashore  and A Feast of Senses

We are talking about how we use our five senses to learn.

We also are learning a bit about poetry.

Beanie Baby strategy: 

Eagle Eye, Lips the fish and now introducing Stretchy Snake.  Stretchy tells us to slowly say the word we are trying to read or write and stretch out the sounds.

WRITING:

Daily journals

This week we are starting to sketch our small moments and then we will add words and more detail.

We will write and draw about a fall tree.

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES

Spiders, bats, fall

Fire safety—calling 911, getting out safely, practicing fire drills , Talking about a fire escape plan at home,  Checking smoke detectors.

Math:

Shapes—circles, rectangles, and squares

5 frames and introducing 10 frames

numbers and number writing.
