January 18-22
Reminder of sledding party on Friday before
we go home at 11:55.
We will go out from 10:45 until about
11:15, come in and have some hot chocolate before packing to go home. You are welcome to join us if you are
available! You could arrive at
10:30—children DO have gym (9:35-10:15) on Friday before we go out to sled!
Blankets can stay home from now on. We are doing a short video after lunch before
moving in to the remainder of our day.
This week we have
worked on the letter Hh, learned sight words my & at. Our vocabulary words are require, plant. Our theme in our reading series is plants and
they require water, air and food to grow.
When reading
stories to your children focus on character, setting, and event (beginning,
middle and end of the story). We focus
on these when we are discussing a book after we have read it for
comprehension.
We are learning
about our beanie baby, Repair Bear. He
reminds us to stop when we are reading to make sure we understand what we are
reading. If we don’t, then we need to go
back and reread.
Math this week will be counting and assessing using the AIMS WEB
to monitor where they are this time of the year.
Science/Social Studies we will talk about Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. and his dream for the world to promote peace and equality. The children will then write about their
dream in their journal. We have also
been talking about winter and what animals do in the winter.
Student of the
week is Case!
He enjoys mud
bogs, cats, puppies and big trucks. His
favorite foods are chicken, pizza, pizza balls, mac & cheese, and banana
boats. Case wants to go to college to be
a doctor. His favorite book is How Much is that Doggie in the Window?
