FIELD TRIP:
Children will eat breakfast and be cleaned up at 8:15—feel free to arrive by 8:00.  We will use the bathroom and board the bus by 8:30.
PLEASE have a full set of extra clothes in a zip lock or other plastic bag in their backpack along with their sack lunch (labeled with their name) and drink.  Please no glass!!  Feel free to pack a granola bar for a snack before we arrive in Midland. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather.  Might be best to have tennis shoes instead of sandals or flip flops due to the amount of walking we will do.
We will have paper, pencils, some books for something to do on the ride.
*Reminder—we will not be visiting the gift shop.
*Please be mindful of taking pictures of other children and posting on Facebook. Some parents do not want their child on FB.

BABY PICTURE:
I need a baby picture of your child.  They will be writing what they could do as a baby, what they can do now (I use a picture I have from now) and then they will draw what they will look like as an adult and what career path they will choose!  Please send in a baby picture or email me a picture (melissa.thompson@mcbain.org). If you send in a picture, I will get a copy and return it to you!
I’d like to do this activity next week!

READING:
Our big book is Hen Hears Gossip.  We will be learning how to be a good citizen by listening and being respectful, as well as helping others and sharing.
PHONICS: long i and /ch/
SIGHT WORDS:  play, has, all
VOCABULARY WORDS:  citizen & respect
CATEGORY WORDS:  farm animals

WRITING:
Journals and we will write about our science trips.  We will go to the creek Monday and the butterfly garden also this week.

MATH:
Practicing numbers—counting and reading
Practicing adding and subtracting.
We have begun to do our assessments for our final report card!

Thank you for all the caps!  The children had a great time counting them!  We will be sorting and playing with them for a few days!
We ended up with 404 tops of all varieties!

SCIENCE:
We have a trip to the creek to dip for critters, trip to the butterfly garden to see if we have plants growing, and our field trip to Midland and we will be planting sunflower seeds along the playground fence!

Our Painted Lady caterpillars are now all in their chrysalis!  In about a week or so we will have butterflies!

Hope everyone had a nice Mother’s Day!  Wanted you to know your present was also part of science.  We’ve been talking about what plants need to grow.  They planted the seeds themselves!  You have white Shasta and gold African Daisy’s growing!  Hope they all survived the trip home! Told the kids to wait until after Memorial day to plant outside to be clear of frost!

BOOK BAGS:
Next Friday will be the last for book bags.  Please return all book bags by Friday—the children will receive a Subway coupon when it’s returned!
