Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend.  Sure was nice out!

This weather is sure a challenge!  Feel free to pack extra shirts or shorts or sweatshirts/sweaters and mittens!  Might be cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon!  Always good to be prepared!  I don’t have much in the line of extra clothes. This week looks like it’s going to be up and down!

READING:
We are reading Ana Goes To Washington, D.C .  We will be learning about our national symbols and places like our national parks and monuments.

VOCABULARY;  country & travel
CATEGORY WORDS:  ordinal numbers (first, second, third, etc.)
SIGHTWORDS:  what, his, this
LETTERS:  Yy & Zz

SCIENCE & SOCIAL STUDIES:  April 22 is Earth Day.  We will have a discussion on how we can help keep it clean.  In a week or so we will plant sunflower seeds along the playground fence.

MATH:  We will investigate balance, counting, skip counting, graph results after we take a survey of our class.

WRITING:  We will finish a writing of a small moment and move in to writing an opinion letter.  We will be writing a letter to the incoming preschoolers on what we liked about Kindergarten. We journal write daily.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH:  Kenadie
Kenadie always wants to be a helper!
When Kenadie grows up she wants to be a Mom!  Her favorite book is Itsy Bitsy Spider.  Kenadie wants to learn to read.  Her favorite food is watermelon and favorite color is purple.  Her favorite hobby is petting her cat!

*Permission slips are attached for our May 16th trip to Midland Center for the Arts.  Please return slips and money by May 3 so we can plan for chaperones and the needed busses.

Summer Bridges book order form is also attached.

BOOK BAGS—Please send in book bags Thursday this week as they do not have school on Friday this week!  I have some who have not returned their book bags at all!  Please hunt down their books as they belong to the school!

Now that we are light later in the evening I’m sure it’s hard to get children to bed early—but we are getting some tired kiddos by early afternoon!  Good rest helps learning!

Have a great weekend!  Melissa
